Murder on the menu

The palatial house enthralled the guests.

The raven haired hostess looked resplendent in her black & white silk gown. Her almond eyes were limpid pools of molten honey. Her skin?Cream & peaches. When she smiled, her rose bud lips looked dipped in dew.

Allan could not take his eyes off her & started to move towards her.Just then he saw that blackguard Chris, reach out & take her hand.He burnt with rage.

“You wait, you mongrel!Tonight is going to be your last night. She has promised to be mine & nothing can stop me now,”he thought. As he patted the sachet of powder  in his breast pocket, Allan’s eyes gleamed.

Chris bent to take her lily white hand & smiled  into her eyes. She is such an angel. She had looked so  vulnerable when she had told  him how that nincompoop ,Allan, had been troubling her.

“I am going to ask her to marry me as soon as I remove that scoundrel Allan, from her life. Tonight I am going to put an end to his pestering ways,”he told himself. He was going to doctor Allan’s drink, when they sat down  to dinner. He smiled happily at the thought.

She had been watching them surreptitiously, favouring first one then the other with a smile here,a look there.Keep them guessing she thought, smiling inwardly. She had played her cards well. She was enjoying playing them against each other.

Each thought that she was besotted with him-ha!

Men!Such fools!

The chase was fun but once they fell under her spell, she lost interest.

Money? She had accumulated enough over the last six years from her three ex

husbands–all three sleeping peacefully forever-well,not peacefully maybe ,she smirked. She had the sense not only to doctor their meals & medicines, but also the documents ,such that everything came to her after their demise.

This time around, she was doing it for the sheer fun of it.Her eyes sparkled at the thought of the scandal ,the news that all this would make.A double murder for the entrée-yum!She could hardly wait for dinner to start.

    • Am so thrilled at this compliment from you Deana-thank you 😀
My apologies for not replying earlier-have been very busy with my daughter’s school leaving exams which started today-you know how tense they get & this is very crucial in India for the results of this exam will decide which platform they get to embark on:-)

  1. The title is absolutely brilliant! Even though it tells you what’s going to happen, the reader still doesn’t know what’s really going to happen. For example, I thought it was just Allan that was going to bite it. lol Totally fun!

    • Am so overwhelmed by your warm comments bnatividad-thank you so much for making my day:-)Apologies for the late response-real life keeps catching me,lol!

    • Thank you Diane:-)Am so sorry have still not been able to unravel the mystery of posting the award you so kindly conferred ,on my blog-leave alone how to move forward about nominating-it all seems very complicated to my dull mind. How have you been?I am very busy with my daughter’s school leaving exam which started today & will end on 30th-a long road ahead ,for after that she has a lot of competitive exams for getting intro college & she gets very tense-ah,a mom’s job is never easy now,is it?:-)

      • It certainly isn’t..I’ve passed that point in my life of course, but even though my ‘children’ are quite grown adults with families of their own….a mother is always a mother and I still have the ‘urge’ to still ‘mother’ them.;lol
If and when you ever want, I can help you with the process of the award..send you instructions but you don’t have to do them….some don’t but simply accept the nomination….Diane

      • I agree Diane-a mother will be a mother till her last breath:-)Thk u for understanding.Yes,you did tell me that but I have no idea what to do even to accept the award.will definitely like to pass the award on(no idea if that is the correct phrase)& will take your help-will do that in a month’s time when my daughter finishes her exams & I am freer:-)Am also chewing on your suggestion to fill in the “about” slot-just need a bit of courage, lol!Take care my dear friend, sending lots of love & blessings your way 🙂
