Carpe Diem Special- “Releases the moon”

Carpe Diem Special #56, O. Mabson Southard’s “releases the moon”

This week Carpe Diem’s  special requires us to write a new haiku/senryu in the same tone, sense and spirit as the one given by the featured haiku poet of the month,O. Mabson Southard. Southard wrote all his haiku in the classical 5-7-5 syllables-count, so our haiku has to follow that 5-7-5 syllables-count as well.

This is the Haiku O.Mabson Southard wrote-

In the garden pool,

dark and still, a steppingstone

releases the moon.

This beautiful Haiku inspired me to write quite a few -here they are:-)

Silver Orb, dark clouds

Play hide and seek-silently

the placid pool sleeps

Skipping over the

flat stones,the moon stumbles-

falls into the pool.

When moon kisses the

stepping stones,the pool frowns

at this rendezvous

Untangling herself

from stepping stones in the pool

the moon smiles shyly

Fireflies light the way

as the moon gingerly walks

on the stepping stones

The pool’s stepping stones

dark knights in shining armour

Moon’s nightly saviour

  1. Love how together they weave a little story. Think I like this one best:
    “Untangling herself
from stepping stones in the pool
the moon smiles shyly” and perhaps smugly? 🙂
