Thanks Bjorn for really stumping me  for two days and then with the mercury climbing  higher,I almost “melted” 🙂 Finally, today the weather  being slightly better,I decided to post the story. My 100 words follow the photo prompt below.

Ginger

Ginger’s orange coat shimmered as she climbed the wall.

A loud burst of music startled her.

The neighbours were at it again-what did they call it? Jam session!

It was not that she did not like music but they needed to take lessons from her boyfriend.

Ah, when Tom serenades her even his friends can’t resist joining-the flirtatious rogues!

She did not socialize readily but tonight the delicious smell wafting over warranted a visit.

Nobody noticed her as she made her way to the dining table till someone cried out, “What a cute cat!”

Meow! So much for dinner…

Adventure

Friday Fictioneers

This time Friday has come and long gone and I can’t believe that I am joining the weekly FF melee almost at the fag end-phew!Well, real life sometimes takes over and one has to patiently wait for a break. I would like to thank all those who came over to read and comment on my post. Will come by later today, to thank you all personally. As we  are all observing FF is becoming more and more popular and to read over 100 entries every week is getting tougher. So,I am going  to chose what many others are already doing.I will come by to read and comment on those  who have been  regularly reading  mine  and those who never fail to return the favour. Needless to say,I will definitely pay a return visit to those who come by  to read  and comment on mine for the first time-that’s what a community is for 🙂

Okay, now that is out of the way,let me get back to the nitty- gritty of FF.Every Friday(okay, okay Wednesday) our wonderful hostess Rochelle Wisoff-Fields cooks up a storm by providing a photo prompt ,based on which writers from all over the globe  rush to spin a 100 word(give or take a few more -or less) story. This week the photo is provided by none other than the very talented Douglas M Macllroy-thank you Doug :-)If you are interested in participating a or reading what others have written, do click on the url http://rochellewisofffields.wordpress.com/friday-fictioneers-2/ and I promise you will be hooked.

Adventure

“Is the sea monster going to gobble us all?” asked little Gina.

Tim retorted, “No silly, we are safe under the rafters.”

“Anyway mermaids are stronger than sea monsters!” Quipped Alice sagely.

The monster was circling around, when suddenly…

“Argh! What are you kids doing under my new cushions?”

‘Oh, no! It’s Mom!” The children groaned.

“Dave, is this how you keep an eye on them?”

Her husband took off the diving helmet and grinned sheepishly.

“Molly, I thought the kids would enjoy an undersea adventure.”

Rolling her eyes, Molly remarked, “Thank God, you decided to keep the sea away!”

If only…

She frowned, looking down at the question paper lying on her desk.

It seemed to be looking back at her with a sneer on its face!

Oh!If only she had studied for this exam earlier..

But her heart was not in it. It was busy leaping uncontrollably at the sight of a certain someone…

The one with a golden voice, the one with the golden smile…the one whose golden head was now bent on his paper, writing effortlessly. no doubt  with his golden pen!

Sigh!If only she had not dreamt about a golden future with this golden boy,she could have been  building a golden future  for herself  by qualifying in this exam

But all was not lost. Not for nothing had she been the topper in the class, before the “golden aura” tarnished her image.

With a deliberate mental sweep, she cleared the cobwebs off her memory bank

In response, the question paper seemed to flutter its eyelashes at her coquettishly, as if saying, “Oh sweetie you know how I turn into putty in your hands!”

Soon her beautiful coppery head was bowed down ,her hand trying to keep pace with her mercurial brain.

Had she looked up,she would have seen surprised-even shocked- to find a pair of sparkling green eyes looking at her enviously, the golden face a little in awe of her intellectual prowess and swamped  by her Hellenic beauty……….

The Intruder

It was late in the night and the hallway was dimly lit.She had not realized that it would get so late at the party.

As she  took out the key to her apartment, she remembered the handsome man with the piercing blue eyes, who had flirted with her the whole evening. Now,now she admonished herself, how do you know how he looked-after all it was a masquerade party! She giggled .Guess ,I am a little tipsy, she told herself.

As she inserted the key and the door clicked open, she saw him emerge out of the dark shadows .Before she could react,he was behind her, holding a gloved hand over her mouth and nudging her forward with what seemed like a pistol..

He whispered,“Thinking of me,Honey? Now get inside and keep your mouth shut.”

Shivering,she complied.

Pushing the door shut with the heel of his boot,he said,”Now  what do we have here?’With a flick of his wrist,he opened a Swiss knife and turned her chin up.”Diamonds suit you, but rubies would look better.”

And with that he snatched her diamond choker and pocketed it.Her diamond ear clips, solitaire and bracelet followed.

She looked at him defiantly.

He smiled devilishly and said, “I don’t think you need any adornments or ..this..”With an expert hand he undid the knot of her evening gown and it slid to the floor.

“Delectable!”He reached behind and undid her French knot.As her auburn hair cascaded around her beautiful face, his piercing blue eyes seemed to laugh from behind the mask. She felt her colour rise.

“Take what you want and leave,”she whispered.

“Not so fast ,my Sweet!Let’s see what you have to offer me!”

With that he  pulled  her to him, kissing her passionately and before she knew he had swept her up in his arms  striding purposefully towards the bedroom.

At the foot of the bed ,Mickie, her Siamese cat,not happy with this midnight shenanigan, tripped him up.

As they both fell onto the bed,she started laughing.

Pulling the mask off her husband’s amused face, she said,“So much for our midnight adventure Robinhood!”

Nor a lender be

In the same vein I say

Neither seek advice

Nor an adviser be

Just shut your trap-

No one wants it, see?

Girls just want to have fun

Two and a half years have gone by in mourning, since Jeff was snatched away in a horrific accident.Recently however, Jamie was disconcerted to feel the stirrings of a different kind of need within her.

And why the hell not,she thought, she was just 30!Not that there was any dearth of admirers  or interested males, for she was rich, and beautiful. Not for nothing were she and Jeff known as the golden couple. But,she was not ready to get involved, just yet.

So, she  discussed it with her two close friends,Melissa & Samara, her cousins,Mindy  and Jill  and here they all are, looking sexy, waiting with bated breath..

The Buffet dinner  and wine has made them satiated & tipsy enough to look forward  to a night of enjoyment.

The excitement is palpable,as the lights start to dim!All eyes are turned on to the stage where a faint mist of smoke drifts in.Their heart beats rise with the swell of the music.A dark shape appears on the stage  and there are sharp cries of anticipation.Suddenly, the spotlight  reveals him sliding down the pole, clad only in sexy black shorts .

The girls ooh and aah,as the handsome stripper moves  sensuously. His gyrations have the girls drooling .He knows how to titillate and soon has them begging for more. His masculine scent and raw sexuality has the girls swooning in delight. The raunchy talks and ribald jokes the girls had been sharing at dinner, has made them all edgy and their pent up emotions are ready to burst through.

He knows how to strut his stuff. Soon his efforts are rewarded as they  rain  money on him.

As he nears each girl, his shorts are pulled a little lower, with a fifty here,a hundred there.

Jamie is excited as he  comes over. Boldly, she pulls  him closer  and pushing

him on a chair, straddles him There are hoots of appreciation and sexy catcalls.

Both Jamie and the stripper know where they will be spending the night and smile knowingly as the act comes to an end amid whistles and cheers.

CROWNING MR.IDLE

Miss Guilt sulked in a corner.

Ms.Work was running late, trying to be everywhere at one and the same time.

Mrs. Diligence looked harassed.

Mr. Muck twiddled his thumbs, looking lost.

Master Boredom was feeling abandoned.

Baby Pleasure was lying curled up, dying an unnatural death.

Mr. Useful looked exhausted.

——————————————————————————————————————-

In Hell, things were getting out of hand.

Devil was breathing fire & brimstone.

“No empty minds?” he roared.

His workshop was gathering dust.

Worse, his minions had not been able to ensnare any souls –again!

——————————————————————————————————————-

In Heaven, things were no better

An emergency meeting had been called by God.

The many listless & tired souls, entering Heaven, were sucking the joy & happiness away!

Saint Peter stood at the Pearly Gates, mopping his brow nervously.

Heaven had no vacancy!

——————————————————————————————————————-

An ordinary weekend conversation………………….

Work: Humans worship me.

Guilt (slyly): Without me, they would crumble.

Boredom: I provide the fuel for mischief & entertainment.

Idle: Without me, where would you all be?

Pleasure (petulantly): But, they love me the most!

Muck: Nonsense! Without me, you are nothing!

Idle: Hello, it’s me who promotes you all!

Work: Ha! Ha! Listen to this fool!

Diligence(haughtily): True! With you around, nothing is accomplished. They need me the most.

Idle: Oh, yeah?

Success: Just shut up, Idle! What do you know anyway?

Idle: Better than you!

Useful: (sneering): Says who? You are good for nothing!

Idle: Watch it…

Work: Oh, get lost! We don’t need you.

Idle (fuming): Is that so? Fine! Am leaving-forever!

And Idle had left.

That was a year ago.

And now they were all paying the price……..

——————————————————————————————————————-

Meanwhile, on Earth ___

People were trudging tiredly. Working diligently day & night for the last one year had brought success to them but they had no idle moment for enjoyment.

There was no pleasure, no time for even boredom! They wanted to muck around & feel guilty but had no idleness left. They hated it……….

                                                 ————-X—————–

I wrote this fictional scenario because I feel that being diligent & hard working is a little overvalued .On the other hand,a little idleness is somehow looked upon as a sin.Why should they  be placed at such  extreme polarities?Isn’t a mix of  business & idleness more desirable?Remember that old adage,”All work & no play…”& without a little idleness, one cannot enjoy  leisure.Possibly,I have not used the third meaning, but had fun doing this-so please consider this as a product of an IDLE mind  >:o
