Christmas pudding

Honey, what’s for dessert?

Season’s favourite-Christmas pudding! Taste some?

Umm …yummy but has a funny flavour.

That must be Silvadene.

What!!

Darling, it got burnt a bit. So I applied the ointment…

Ack!

(Author’s note- “Silver sulfadiazine (INN, or silvadene) is a topical sulfonamide/silver[1] antibacterial used as a topical cream on burns.)

Trifecta: Week Seventy-Two

This week the word Trifecta  gave us is-

ALCHEMY (noun)

1
: a medieval chemical science and speculative philosophy aiming to achieve the transmutation of the base metals into gold, the discovery of a universal cure for disease, and the discovery of a means of indefinitely prolonging life
2
: a power or process of transforming something common into something special

Please remember:
  • Your response must be between 33 and 333 words.
  • You must use the 3rd definition of the given word in your post.
  • The word itself needs to be included in your response.
  • You may not use a variation of the word; it needs to be exactly as stated above.
  • Only one entry per writer.
This week’s challenge is community judged.

And boy,oh boy,was this a tough cookie or what?I racked my brains till nothing was left except an empty shell.I read a few entries to see if it could spark a  flame or at least a flicker-but nothing!Wish I knew some alchemy so that i could produce a winning entry,I thought, where are you my inspiration,my muse?Ah,time was running out & with  just over three hours left,I was distraught. Will it be the first time that I will miss submitting an entry to Trifecta?Just 4 months old & already nothing to say?I  decided to just start writing-wrote two stories but could not weave in the word prompt correctly,so started writing a poem.Yes,it is  a silly, nonsensical poem(if one can call it a poem that is) but had fun writing it & that’s what these writing challenges are all about,I believe. So friends, here is my submission, waiting to read your feedback:-)

Pay Attention

Traveling far?

Or alone?

Heed my words

Approach not

The haunted house

With its guests undead

Lure the travelers

Who dare tread

lonely paths of

the bewitched forest

That house

the evil witches,

brewing their deathly potions

in cauldrons of infamy

and who stew the ignoramuses

amid cacophony.

The wicked gnomes

cast their spell

with their bonhomie

to lead the rest astray.

So,if you happen to meet one

be very,very wary.

Then there are those

pretty fairies too

who look like they

can hardly say BOO

But to trust

their dainty anatomy

is sheer calamity

The only saviour  for you

Is the rheumy eyed Bunny

keep your pockets full of carrots

to fill his crummy tummy

And if he finds them yummy

you will be taken to the academy.

There the wise old wizard

Knows a trick or two

His words are alchemy

makes all evil coo.

And if you think all these warnings

Sound little too scummy

Ex-cuse me

Go risk your heart and soul

I call it blasphemy!
