Trifextra: Week Ninety-Seven

It is Friday and thus time for Trifextra:-)

This weekend we are being asked to add thirty of our own words to the following three words for a total of thirty-three.

Here are my 33 🙂

Your honeyed lies dazzle me. Am too myopic to see the veil of deception. The sword of reality cuts deep. I bleed tears. You leave. The acid of betrayal spills, turning the basin red.

The Reminder

It is time to take a dip in the amazing world of flash fiction again:-)It is time for writing for Friday Fictioneers, courtesy our host ,the wonderfully talented Rochelle:-)The challenge is to write a one hundred word story that has a beginning, middle and end. (No one will be ostracized for going a few words over the count.)This week,we have this photo to be used as inspiration. Her comes my piece 😛

Parking his car in the driveway, he heard laughter.

It was Stella, his wife.

Inside, their 6 year old daughter Daphne stood pouting, arms akimbo.

“We have to return the head, Daddy!”

“What head?”

“Dave, remember we watched the legend of Sleepy Hollow?”

“Today she saw the stone head at the museum .Since then, she has been saying that,” Stella grinned.

“But Daddy, the head told me to!”

“What did it say sweetie?”

Eerily, Daphne pronounced in a sing song nasal voice,“It is time you returned what you took.”

Dave paled.

Stella froze.

Both remembered –too late for amends!

The Phone call

It all started with a phone call.

“Hello”,said a pleasant baritone.

“Good morning.Golden Blooms”

“Jake Plumbaum,calling from Manor House.”

Ooh,a call from Manor house & from the tycoon himself! My lucky day, thought Gloria, super excited.

“A pleasure to be of service,”Gloria added a respectful “Sir”,as an after thought.

Manor House needed 2 dozen long stemmed red roses, with an additional  two dozen pink tea roses,to be delivered the next morning promptly at 7.

Next morning,it so happened that her delivery boy failed to turn up,so she drove the van out herself to the Manor house. Her beautiful pink summer frock ,teamed  with white peep toes & a sun hat, made her look much younger than 23.

As  she  was coming down the steps, looking gleefully at the handsome cheque in her hand, she failed to notice the young man, looking dapper in his white polo neck tee shirt, creased white trousers, white tennis shoes,a cap set at a rakish angle, rushing up the stairs,& they collided  with each other.

This unorthodox meeting, broke the ice & orders from the Manor House became a regular feature.

Soon,Jake started visiting the shop on some pretext or the other & before she knew it,they  were dating

.It was like  a fairy tale.Their love story became the talk of the town & Gloria thought she was one lucky girl.Jake however argued that he was the lucky one!

And here she was, standing in her unusual red wedding gown.Jake said that it highlighted her auburn hair.

She could not wait to say ,”I do!”

The phone rang.

“Hello, may I speak to Miss Gloria please?”

“I am Doctor Sigmour, calling from Manor House.Am sorry but there has been a terrible accident & am afraid Jake will not make it.He wants you to take care of the flowers for his funeral.Hello…hello.. Miss Gloria?”

Gloria flung the telephone across the room  as if it was a poisonous snake!

What irony! They had both believed that each was lucky & now neither was!
